The Hartford Chorale Chamber Singers
We are thrilled to continue a long-time dream with the Hartford Chorale’s small ensemble: the Hartford Chorale Chamber Singers! The ensemble is a 24-voice group, selected from Hartford Chorale membership.
The Hartford Chorale Chamber Singers enhance and extend the mission of the Chorale by reaching beyond the setting of the concert hall to entertain, educate and inspire a variety of new audiences through high quality choral performances. Ensemble members are dedicated to this mission, and it shines through in every performance we give.
In our first 5 seasons, we have lived up to expectations by performing beautiful and appealing programs for many community organizations, and partnering with other choral groups to create exciting collaborations. Our outreach opportunities have taken us throughout the Hartford region, as well as Massachusetts and New Haven. Our repertoire includes all genres of music, and our audience reviews reinforce that what we do really matters.
Our commitment to education is always evident, as we encourage student singers to join us as part of the Hartford Chorale’s internship program, and by engaging future professional musicians as instrumentalists for our performances.
2012-13 Season Highlights
We opened our season at the Hartford Chorale’s development event in October, featuring Choral Favorites for our listeners’ enjoyment.
Holiday Music with the HCCS
We performed Holiday Music with the HCCS for several different outreach opportunities during the month of December, as well as performing as a featured set at the “Christmas with the Hartford Chorale” concert. Programming featured works by Berlin, Britt, Howells, Levine, Mendelssohn, Rutter and others.
Our American Heritage
During the winter months, Our American Heritage was the theme for a feature concert at the Unitarian Society of Hartford, as well as other outreach engagements. This upbeat performance included works by Billings, Copland, Smallwood, and arrangements by Barnett, Burleigh, Dawson, and Nestor.
A Musical Centerpiece
A Musical Centerpiece describes the feature work for our final program of the season. We presented Haydn’s Paukenmesse and other works to feature music that written as a creative response to war. We were happy to return to Center Church in Hartford for this special performance.
