Join the Hartford Chorale for an exciting spring season including Britten's War Requiem with the Hartt Symphony Orchestra and Choirs at The Cathedral of St. Joseph and Beethoven's Ninth Symphony with the New Haven Symphony Orchestra at Woolsey Hall in New Haven and The Quick Center at The University of Fairfield. We are looking for qualified singers who can accurately prepare music independently, sing with good intonation and blend, read music well, and commit to a significant number of rehearsals and concerts during our multi-concert season. Rehearsals are held on Monday nights from 7:15-10:00 p.m. Interested candidates should have choral experience, be able to sight read music, and provide a letter of recommendation from a conductor or teacher who can speak to the candidate's experience in choral singing. Components of the audition will include a prepared piece from the standard solo repertoire, some vocalizing to identify range and timbre; short, melodic fragments to be repeated by memory and brief tests of sight-reading ability and learning speed. An accompanist will be provided.
