The Hartford Chorale introduced an internship program in 2006 for high school and college
students as well as music educators (Continuing Education Units or CEUs).
An internship is a fabulous opportunity to sing in a professional choir, performing major symphonic
choral works with the region's principal orchestra, the Hartford Symphony Orchestra, in addition to other
performance opportunities. Our interns benefit from working alongside professional and experienced singers,
being mentored by their vocal section leader and building unsurpassed vocal and choral experience under
the direction of Music Director Richard Coffey.
All of our internships are funded by an internship scholarship. Interns are required to meet all of the
membership expectations as well as complete an internship evaluation at the end of the season. This evaluation
is sent to the intern's school music director for whatever credit is agreed upon by that school. For more details
on the program and evaluation, download the appropriate file below.
In the 2009-2010 season, we were thrilled to have 3 high school interns and 8 college interns participating. These students come from the following schools: Cromwell High School, Glastonbury High School, Simsbury High School, Central CT State University, Manchester Community College, Northwestern State University, Trinity College, Tunxis University, and University of Connecticut.
If you are interested in an internship, please contact the Chorale office at the.hartford.chorale@onecommail.com, or keep checking this space for further information.
