2006-2007 Season

Poulenc’s Gloria
Edward Cumming, Conductor with the Hartford Symphony Orchestra
Amanda Forsythe, soprano soloist

October 17, 2006
October 18, 2006

The Bushnell Center for Performing Arts, Mortensen Hall

Review by Jeffrey Johnson, The Hartford Courant, Oct. 19, 2006:
“The concert closed with a strong performance of the Poulenc Gloria. The Hartford Chorale was well prepared by music director Richard Coffey. They produced a full sound and a performance rich in details. They delivered text with wonderful rhythmic vitality. Amanda Forsythe was the soprano soloist. Cumming took accurate tempos, particularly the Laudamus Te which is often heard much slower than the composer intended. In the opening of the final movement, a cappella tenors on high G, doubled by the mezzo-soprano part an octave lower–cut through like a razor. Bravo…”
